Inside the Studio with Gemma

Even at 10 months old, Gemma packs a lot of personality! When she came to the JNP Studio with her mom this past March, I instantly knew it was going to be a great session.  Without any encouragement from the photographer, Gemma was pointing those toes, assuming her favorite straddle position, and batting those big brown eyes.

As the youngest of three siblings, she’ll have plenty of opportunities to share the spotlight during family sessions in the future.  During that first year, though, when babies’ personalities develop so much, individual portraits are incredibly important!  We were really able to focus on her inquisitive nature and hilarious facial expressions in our afternoon together.

While Gemma’s comfort was foremost in my mind, I also wanted to make this experience easier for her mother.  Not only does the studio stay nice and warm—no matter what Maryland weather brings.  But also, I took care of the wardrobe.  I had a great time picking out the four outfits—from the headbands to the props—you see here.  Fortunately, Mom loved them, too, and appreciated having one less thing to worry about.

Since Gemma was busily blowing bubbles, babbling, and clapping already, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!  I’ve been fortunate enough to welcome many of my clients back again and again.  To help them photograph their families through the years.  Whether they need a maternity photoshoot, newborn sessions, a cake smash photograph, or family portraits.
